This coming week is busy! The first SVL goes at Kingsmeadow on Monday(30th),then the 1st Rosenheim,joint with a VAC meet,is on Wednesday,also at Kingston.The Saturday is Stoke for the first BAL(sadly without the now-retired Mark Roberts & Victor Nwagbara),plus the first SML at Bracknell. Sunday is the first NYAL at Watford,whilst Dominique Blaize is in Italy and James Heptonstall,Humphrey Waddington & Felix Hatton(at least) contest the BUSAs at Bedford over the Bank Holiday weekend.

CHANGE OF DATE - Southern Mens League - Please make a note that the June 2nd SML match is,thankfully,OFF and is transferred to August 18th,still at Sutton.

Dominique Blaize's GB selection is confirmed for the first in the 2007 series of the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge meets in Desenzano del Garda,Italy on May 5th/6th.


Late March result - London Marathon entrant,Ross Shaddick,ran 1.15.17 for 62nd in the Bath Half Marathon on 25/3.

On the 1st,Mark Reed ran a stormer to take 3rd in the ASICS Kingston Breakfast 8.2m(46.31);Catherine S-R finished in 1.03.28,Dermod S 1.06.25 & Johanna Gibbons 1.11.20. In the 16m race,Andy Arbour also ran a stormer to take 5th in 1.34.33 with David Greenfield clocking 2.07.19. Full results on

Ron Taylor(47),James Williams(97),Ian Richardson(104) & Liz Richardson(174) contested the BPTT(7th). Full results at

Chris Hall took advantage of a much warmer day at the Basingstoke Open(7th) to record wins at 100/200(11.4/23.0) but also the Long Jump at 6m68 with a consistent series of 6 all over 6.40 and,more to the point,3 in excess of his previous PB.

At the first VAC Meet of 2007 at Battersea(11th),Mike May(M45) was fastest K&P over 100/300 at 13.4/44.7;Chuck Isetts(M60) clocked 13.9/46.6;and Joan Trimble(W50) got 15.0/51.9. In a small mixed field over 5000,Nicky Atkins was a determined,though isolated,2nd in 21.21.3.

On the 15th,a handful contested the Hercules Wimbledon YA Open - U17 Ryan Clancy's pb 1.73 HJ looks the pick of the bunch and there were also likely pbs for Ollie Garner 1500 5.26.3,Soracha Healy 100 13.5 & Natalie Ellis 22.02. Full results can be found at -

A smallish team of 13 supported the club's 2nd invitation appearance at Enfield & Haringey's Alpha & Beta Trophies Meeting on the 21st,this year at the brand new Lee Valley Stadium at Picketts Lock. Our attempt to gain promotion to the Alpha match in 2008 was not successful,but there were some useful early season performances in warm weather. In the U15 contest,the best came from Emily McIlwain,who commenced proceedings by setting a HJ pb of 1m46(3rd) and from Victoria Douglas who took 4th in the LJ(4m65) and 3rd in the 200 into a strengthening wind(29.15). In the Senior competition,pick of the day was Sasha Gordon's 2nd in the LJ at 5m34. Teamwise,we were 6th in both Senior & U15 contests but came 4th of 8 in the combined Beta Trophy result.

Prospective BAL selections Gordon Lester,Chris Hall,Ron Taylor & Maris Kuklis showed good form at Stompond Lane,Walton on Sunday 22nd - Lester(PV 3.80) set an outdoor pb and mirrored his indoor best;Hall stretched to a 12.99 TJ pb and won over 100 in 11.34;Taylor(2.03.87) ran just outside his 800 pb and strolled the 1500 later;whilst Kuklis won his 400 in 51.86. Other winners included Victoria Douglas(U15G LJ 4.60);Roseanne Mackay(U17W TJ 9.86);Patrick Hillyer(U17M TJ 11.45);and Michael Christov(U13B HJ 1.28). Good run,too,from U17 Tom Parry - 15.29 100H. News from the London Marathon - Ross Shaddick will have been disappointed with his 3.00.57 in 892ndM;David Greenfield(M50) placed 11398th in 4.22.26 and David Richards(M45) was 15820th at 4.47.34. On the distaff side,Charlie Sklenar ran a very useful 3.41.17 for 733rdW,as did Lois Kerrison(W35) who took 880th at 3.45.46. Results can be found at

At the Sportshall Finals at the NIA.,of K&P's 2 reps,Soracha Healy cleared a pb HJ at 1.40 for a bronze medal,with Molly Renfer also having a good day,setting more than one pb. Surrey results can be found on the County website -

On 28th,we had 5 competitors at the BPTT & WCTT - see for results and,at Cambridge,Humphrey Waddington improved his SP to 8.77 and JT to 48.23 in the CUAC trials.
