Another welcoming evening at Epsom's Ewell Court saw over 20 K&P veterans in action,some for the very first time in this competition.

You would have thought the absence of 4 or 5 of our regular handful of women vets would have scuppered our chances,but Nicky Atkins,herself out of action,summoned the gods and found some more! Mums were to the fore - joined by fellow thespians from Walton,Jo Regan(winner LJ 4.44) & Debbie Singleton,the Lady Pres(W55).led the way with 33pts from 5 events,assisted (wo)manfully by Gill Broderick,Susanne Dietrich,Julie Garner,Clare Nelson & Fionuala Renfer(first ever 1500). E&E won at home easily,but we headed Croydon into 2nd place and remain 2nd overall. Match - E&E 146/K&P 105/Croydon 89/DMV 69 and Overall(with 1 match to go) - E&E 24LP/K&P 19/CRO 18/DMV 17/Striders & S&D 4 each.

Mike May's men numbered 13,the best turnout so far - Pat Logan(100 12.2) & debuting youngster,M35 Andy Arbour(5k 17.41.4)(fresh from a 10mile stint in the Welsh Castles Relay over the weekend),were our winners,but there were sterling efforts from other first-timers,Ollie Oladele(62.0 400) & Frank Schubert(14.4 100). Elsewhere,Messrs Isetts,May,Walton thespian Jack Rutherford,Bell,Huntley,Simmons & Shaw enjoyed the ambience and the exercise. Match scores - E&E 170.5/Cro 153/K&P 124.5/ etc and Overall - E&E 23/CRO 22/K&P 17/SoC 14.5/DMV 13.5 etc.
