id583-Rosenheim League M4 Eton 20th June 2007 Report

Written by DB

The uncovered and thus saturated PV bed rightly got the thumbs down from the referee, rendering journeys abortive;but otherwise trying passages were overcome and both Mens' & Womens' teams won on a pleasant Eton evening.

The ladies were thin on numbers, but then so were the others and we were untroubled in winning again against minimal opposition - English Schools selection,Mary Iheke, did some training over 200/800;Roseanne Mackay & Liz Richardson were busy;the 'management' performed;and U15s Flo Penfold & Emily McIlwain debuted.

Of the men,Chris Dack's long struggle round the M25 was rewarded with his 2nd best-ever JT at 59.45;there were enough sprinters for 2 relay teams;we won despite no 800 runner;John Burnett justified his 30 mile plus cycling jaunt with wins at 2000St/3000;good to have Simon Grier & Peter Wilkins back on board;and it was a pleasant surprise to welcome an Aussie entourage, led by Walshie, here for a 2-week tour of the Scottish Highland Games circuit.
