id588-Lily B League M2 Guildford June 30th 2007 Report

Written by DB

Deluges & London Youth games apart,a cheerful group responded to TM John Simmons' summonses with enthusiasm. All teams in the K&P match, except home club G&G,were less mob-handed than usual but we returned with a 3rd place.

Team scores - G&G 372.5/Brack 235/K&P 171/HHH 115.5/DMV 75/HW 39.

In the U13s,improvement was most apparent from the Lily B League visit one month earlier: Claudia Noakes(2A) & Minty Allen(1B) both clocked 13.7 in 70 Hurdles;Pippa Allcock(3.04.0 800) was 9 secs up on her previous best, and Layla Thompson(3.02.6) also hacked her best down considerably;with sister Mae T improving with a 32.9 200.

Emily McIlwain was too good for all, winning the U15 HJ(1.50) & LJ(4.42);Claudia Poulter(13.2),Lucy Clacher(12.8) & Sophie Peel(12.6 non-scoring) continued our sprint hurdling tradition;Rahannah Gillette-Gordon threw the javelin out to a PB 18.73;Flo Penfold was up to 13.93 DT,reward for recent application;with Katja Schlerf chipping in with a 2nd at LJ.

At U17 level,English Schools-bound Mary Iheke(100/200) & Harriet Lester(80H/LJ) were virtually untroubled;Emily Kneebone took the B LJ plus a 9.75 TJ;and Natalie Ellis upped her SP to 6.13.

Full results on the Noticeboard at Kingsmeadow - we look likely to be in the CUP Final in September, barring a poor 3rd match at Sutton.
