id590-SVL M4 Croydon July 2nd 2007 Report

Written by DB

Luckily escaping the rain, small contingents of K&P vets concluded their SVL regular season at Croydon.

An energetic Womens team challenged Epsom's 100% record right to the death, but were just eased into 2nd overall.

The Men were always adrift of the Croydon/Epsom battle, but concluded this last match and the season in 3rd.

Match - Men - E&E 167.5/Cro 134/K&P 109.5/Soc 88 etc and Overall E&E proceed to their umpteenth final with 31 from Cro 29,K&P 23,Soc 19.5 etc

Match - Women - E&E 116/K&P 109/Cro 75/DMV 66 etc - and Overall - E&E 32 from K&P 26,Cro 24,DMV 22 etc.

Full results on Noticeboard at Kingsmeadow.

Steady scoring throughout saw 8-point wins for Nicky Atkins(2kW),Nicki Murphy & Susanne Dietrich(200s) and Nicki again and Mary Waddington(Triple Jump). Julie Garner ran a very worthy 5000(21.11.7),not far off the TM's Club record, and the Hon Pres was as busy as ever. Debbie Singleton(2c) & Gill Broderick helped bring down the curtain on a rather successful campaign.

A win for TM Mike May over 200 was just reward and wins also came from Pat Logan(200),Maurice Joyce(PV),John Simmons(TJ) & Geoff van Klaveren(JT),but the 2 leading clubs were just too strong in depth this summer. There was a good turnout, considering it was Croydon, with Geoff Reed,Cashel Riordan,Chris Taplin,Jack Rutherford,Bob McDonough,Chuck Isetts,Ollie Oladele,Robin Shaw & Graham Huntley boosting the squad.
