id605-Alexander's Ragtime Band

Written by DB

There was 'dancing on the dais' for the K&P competitors at the BMAF Championships at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium over the weekend of 28th/29th July.

(Apologies for the naff headers - could not resist trying to outnaff some of the irritatingly naff headlines in AW & on the UKA website recently!!)

Camilla Thrush's successful return from injury continued with triple W35 gold - SP 10.14/HT 36.69/WT 11.46 - though it was her competitive 33.52 discus silver which, apparently, gave the most pleasure.

Our men-in-the-sprints mirrored Camilla's exploits - Pat Logan confirmed his rich vein of form, taking both M45 100&200 comprehensively in 11.54&23.40(Club Vets record) after heat wins;Mike May,sadly, was the only non-medalist but would have been happyish with a season's best at 100(13.36);Chuck Isetts, recently moving into his new M65 group, took the 200 in style(28.08) and was a tad unlucky not to have taken the 100 as well as the Electronic Timing/Photofinish malfunctioned and he was given 2nd in a manual 13.8 when others reckoned he got the nod;and, not least, evergreen Charlie Williams came out,as he has done for 30 competitive years in the Vets ranks, and added another British Record to his collection, takng the M75 400 in a fine 69.51.
