Team Manager Brenda Ford was able to bow out, after 13 years in the post, happy in the knowledge that her team had won the competition for the first time, and more than once, during her tenure and could hand over the reins to Pat Logan with Division One status retained.
The turnout was meagre, just 10,but there were signs of promise.
At U15 level,George Wilkins muscled into the Club Open Top Ten at Triple Jump with a 9.90 win and equalled his 2007 80H best at 14.0(3rd);Luke Newman improved over 100/200 to 12.4/26.0,winning the shorter event;and Robert Hunter(2.17.1) was within 7/10ths of his 800 PB.
The U13s were more numerous, just! Aidan Fahey & David Fitzpatrick continue to look the part and James Sharman ran a useful 400(67.4);Matthew Broderick picked up 15 pts with 3x2nd places and Michael Kermode showed promise with a 20.77 Javelin.
Two U11s competed for the first time - Eamon Broderick & Joseph Bashir - and they will hopefully move up to represent us next year.
Final scores - Match : HHH 202/Croydon 150/HW 88/K&P 84/G&G 60/AFD 57 and,overall,the final Div One placings were - HHH 17/Croydon 16/K&P 10/HW 8(287.5)/G&G 8 (258.5) and AFD 4.
