There was the usual very busy Finals Day at Kingsmeadow and a spirited K&P performance saw them into 3rd place in the Cup Final. Guildford & Bracknell were well away but the home side kept their noses in front of the others to finish in a position which would have satisfied TM John Simmons and on-the-day managers,Dawn Clacher & Fionuala Renfer.
Full details can be found via the Main Menu.
The 4-girl Under 13s(Layla & Mae Thompson,Philippa Allcock,Claudia Noakes),all of whom competed at all 4 fixtures, scored steadily.A season's best for Layla over 800(2.57.5) & a 2nd place in the B HJ for Philippa proved to be the better marks on the day.
The U15s were more numerous - Molly Renfer grabbed back her No 1 spot in the Club Open lists, taking 2nd over 800 in 2.28.7,with Maddie Garner also in form(2.37.2);Flo Penfold continues to improve in the throws(6.64/16.40 SP/DT);Lucy Clacher(3A 13.2) & newcomer,Megan Phillip(1B 14.1) looked good at 75 hurdles, one of the club's better events throughout the age groups;Vicky Douglas's 4.45 LJ proved she ends the summer back to form;whilst,in the Javelin both Rahannah Gillette-Vernon(2A 24.21) & Eleanor van Klaveren(1B 21.17) threw PBs.
At U17,our 'multi-eventers' bade farewell to ascend to the dizzy heights of Under 20s next year - Mary Iheke,Harriet Lester & Roseanne Mackay have been prolific scorers for all their 6 seasons in this and other competitions, and each has left a legacy in the U17 group by setting Club records. We very much hope they can continue in that vein, both personally & club-wise in 2008 and beyond. Natalie Ellis, meanwhile, scored the most points in this League this summer for us,showing promise in both her favourite Discus and also in the Hammer(19.39 PB) and was the only other ever-present alongside the U13 quartet.
