SPORTSHALL U11s match – Carshalton, 19th January 2008

Some five boys and eight girls from K&P were in The Kingston Kestrels U11s Sportshall team competing in the Regional London competition on Saturday 19th January.

Individual results are too many to mention because each member tried their best on the day and experienced a competitive but fun atmosphere.

Here below is listed their top field event score.

Out of eight competing teams, the girls came 5th and the boys came 7th.

In the girls section, excellent individual performances in the field events came from: Emily Douglas 5th - standing triple jump with 5.30m, Amy Gooch 14th – sitting throw with 4.50m, Lauren Edwards 13th equal with 46 speed bounces, Saskia Fitzpatrick 2nd in chest push with 6.75m and 2nd in soft javelin with 14m.

The rest of the team mentioned it was their debut in a club vest and will hopefully be back again next year as they are currently year 5 in school: Siobhan Croall 14th in soft javelin with 8m, Fehinti Ogungbesan 21st in the Vertical Jump and Julia Logan 10th equal in the target throw, Rachel Wooster 6th in chest push with 6.25m and 8th equal in balancing with 38 seconds over four tries.

In the boys section there were skilful individual performances throughout with: Eamon Broderick 3rd equal in the balancing with a score of 41 seconds, Oliver Deighton 6th equal scoring 35 secs, Ethan Harris-Wood 15th equal scoring 26 giving the Kestrels their highest team placing of 2nd! Joseph Bashir 14th equal in the target throw, Thomas Field 7th in chest push with 6.25m and with William Desborough (due to join K&P) 4th in sitting throw with 7.00m.

The team welcomed other children from local schools and from South London Harriers and North London who joined us on the day.

Huge thanks go to Simon Croall for assisting with the boys team;to Pat Logan for bring us cups of tea which were warmly welcomed;and finally to the parents who enthusiastically brought their children along to take part and to share in a fun filled day which many U11s rarely get a chance to experience.
