A late offer to host this match, against better judgement, actually paid off eventually, with over 55 K&P members turning out;this despite the Bank Holiday - AND we started with a win. With 2 of the other 3 matches this campaign also at Kingsmeadow, the omens look favourable for a substantially-better season.
Of the nine U13 Girls,Minty Allen's 13.9 70H;Celia Wright's 2.53.1 800;and the spirted efforts of the Thompson twins stood out.
There were eleven U15s;the pick were probably Sophie Peel's 12.8 75H pb;a useful 2.44.0 800 from Jessica Tomlionson;and a promising K&P debut from Emily Clifton over her 3 individual events.
Whilst,at U17,we fielded 8 athletes;Emily McIlwain was a comfortable HJ winner;Molly Renfer's 44.9 300 impressed in her quest for speed;and Natalie Ellis continued to look the part in the Discus(23.00).
On the male side,we were very thin at U13 with only 4 in evidence from a large membership;Alex Mackintosh won twice promisingly and Sujit Naha looked nippy in the sprints.Sadly, our only victory in the 4 x 100 was ruled out for a takeover infringement.
Seven U15s toed the line - Rohit Naha's fine Pole Vault pb of 2.50 shone out,as did Asher Nelson's 26.71 Javelin.
The U17s,however,made a splendid effort with 17 present;a substantial breakthrough by Richard Smeaton to 51.9 for a resounding 400 win was probably the best performance of the K&P day all told(plus a 51.1 anchor relay split);Ciaran Costello & George Corcoran also PB'd over 800/1500; Saif Ali collected 2 excellent throws victories;whllst Tom Parry,Gordon Lester,Gordon Trimble and Patrick Hillyer each confirmed their already burgeoning credentials.
