It was another perfect Ewell Court evening for the SVL. Both our Mens and Womens teams were decimated but still covered most of the events in the mens,though not quite so in the womens.The match scores - Men : E&E 176/CRO 166/K&P 131/SoC 116/DMV 70/S&D 6 and overall after 3 of 4 matches - E&E 23/448;CRO 22/419;K&P 17/325;SoC 16/306;DMV 12/148 & S&D 9/56. The Womens match score : E&E 144/CRO 76/K&P 71/DMV 47/S&D 7 and overall - E&E 24/395;K&P 19/270;CRO 19/211;DMV 16/181;S&D 8/39 and SoC 4/15.
First places were hard to find for the men,but Les Hatton(M60 SP 10.54) and Jack Rutherford(M50 HT 27.99) claimed their 8 pts each;2nds went to Chuck Isetts(M50 100 13.9),Maurice Joyce(M50 PV 2.50),Frank Schubert(M40 LJ 4.34) & Les Hatton(M50 DT 28.80).Otherwise,it was scrapping for points - though TM Mike May managed to cover almost all events - but we did run out of volunteers for the Medlay Relay with no-one welcoming the 800 leg!
Nicky's Ladies were almost double in number from Walton, though two of the heroines from that match,Nicki Murphy & Susanne Dietrich were still carrying injuries.Camilla Thrush took the Javelin(27.06),Clare Nelson won the Pole Vault(PB 1.40),Joan Trimble took the W50 100(14.7) and Odette Butson the W35 HT(27.83),whilst Rachel Disley had a real battle over 1500(5.25.6) before losing out in the sprint at the finish.
