A fanciful result on the SWL website soon acquired a reality check and,though we WERE 2nd,our match points total of 72 will still,likely, leave us in the relegation zone.

Though our track points total was poor,we scored well enough in the field to see off Newbury & Harrow,but were well adrift of league leaders, Team Southampton.Double firsts in SP(Dominique Blaize 12.16/Camilla Thrush 10.19) & in LJ(DB again 5.91/Sasha Gordon 5.17),plus a fine "long-time coming" TJ best for Chyna Vincent(10.55) and solid scoring from throwers,Odette Butson & Camilla T. ensured we kept our noses in 2nd place overall.

Southampton won every track event where we were pleased to see Harriet Lester & Nicky Atkins back in the fray and welcome Katja Schlerf & Natalie Sacre into the SML for their debuts. Best performances came over 100/200 where English Schools SG 400-bound,Mary Iheke,was pulled to a 12.5/25.1 double by the speedy Becky Carozzi and in the 100 Hurdles,where Karla Drew just had the edge on Dominique Blaize(14.5 to 14.6).
