Pat Logan's Ebbisham Boys posted a fine Round 1 victory at Sutton Arena, narrowly heading the ostensibly stronger lads from HHH & Croydon. A selection of scoring Under 17 events have been added this year,so the league caters for all our young males from Under 11.
Full results on the Noticeboard at Kingsmeadow or from your Team Manager.
Just 2 U17s took advantage, but Frank Johnson(an 11.6/23.8 double) and George Corcoran, with a PB over 800(2.16.3) would have been pleased.
Our U15s were a bit blown away, but plugged away in most of the events to secure a fair smattering of points. Significant marks included Nicolaj Schubert lowering his 1500 best by 5 secs to 5.20.3;Michael Christov over 1.40 in the HJ;David Fitzpatrick leaping to 9.78 in the Triple Jump;and Asher Nelson improving to 29.61 in the Javelin.
The Under 13s DID have a field day and made the difference. Appropriately,Tom of that ilk(Field)won over both 100&200(13.9/29.5);Alex Mackintosh also took his 100(14.0),as well clearing 1.40(HJ) for the first time;newcomer Matt Thomas won the B200;Sam Vassall(PB 5.32.1) & Freddie Mannering swept up the 1500s,with the latter winning the A 80H(15.3 - making up for his fall in the NYAL the previous Sunday at Kingston);whilst in the field,Matt Broderick won his HJ(1.30) and William van Klaveren(PBs at SP 8.25/Javelin 31.98) & George Osborne(B wins 7.69/23.52)cleaned up the throws.
In the Non-scoring,Nick Logan(U15) showed his TM wont have things all his own way in the future, whilst it was good to have 4 Under 11s in action - Dominic Oldfield,Nathan Whittaker,James Osborne & Jason Newell.
