id763-SVL SWLondonDiv M4 Croydon June 30th 2008 Report

Written by DB

There was an end-of-term look about the K&P teams, both numerically and competitively. Mike's men were well off the pace with only 9 passing muster and we allowed Striders of Croydon to slip past, both into 2nd on the night and into 3rd overall."Nicky/Nicki-force" were also light and also dropped to 3rd overall.

Final Placings - Men - E&E 30/606,Croydon 30/580,Striders 22/410,K&P 22/392,DMV 16/192,etc and - Women - E&E 32/493,Croydon 26/302,K&P 25/356,DMV 21/239 etc. Full results on the Noticeboard at Kingsmeadow or from your TMs.

Geoff van Klaveren(M45) was the male 'star' of the evening with a 2nd M35 Javelin win(34.62) and a season's best in the Discus(22.61);M45 Mike May(200) & M60 Geoff Reed(3kSteeplechase) claimed 2nd places, whilst Frank Schubert(M45) improved his 2008 Triple Jump(9.57) and we belatedly welcomed David Bell M45(800) back from injury.Rob Lowe(M40),Frank Schubert and the TM were the only ones who made all 4 fixtures, with Rob the leading scorer overall.

Only 5 girls made the tricky journey, but Nicki Murphy and Susanne Dietrich were prolific and added substantially to their personal tallies which, combined, accounted for almost 50% of the points the team garnered over the 4 matches!Joan Trimble remained unbeaten at W50,and these 3 were the ever-presents,whilst thrower Odette Butson(W35) showed she will contribute significantly in the future and it was good to have TM Nicky A. back in action after a forlorn track season so far.
