K&P Young Athletes July Newsletter
June has been very busy month for our young athletes, filled with club and school competitions. Many of our athletes did well in the Surrey Schools and the Inter-counties championships, with Mary Iheke, Tom Parry and Gordon Lester winning selection for the English Schools. The Club also started the Jack Petchey Award Scheme which will reward special achievements by young athletes.
Jack Petchey Award
Congratulations to our first winner of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award. The prize for June went to William Trimble for his excellent achievements in Javelin, his great overall athletic performances, and not least for his help in coaching our younger athletes. He has decided to use the prize money towards a marquee/tent for the teams at away matches. The next award will be made in July, so please send your nominations to Frank Schubert ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) by 6 July.
UKA National Young Athletes League
In the National Young Athletes League we started the month leading the London division. Our closest rival, South London Harriers, just finished ahead of us at Parliament Hill on 1 June, but back on home turf our NYAL team outclassed the other teams with a massive win. With only one match to go, all signs are that next season we will be back up in division one.
LilyB League
The second LilyB match saw a good turnout for our girls, which was rewarded by a second place only 3 points behind leaders Guildford & Godalming. John
