id773-BAL Cup 10 in 100 SF7(M&W) Eton July 19th 2008 Report

Written by DB

There were some tidy performances from the small,by design of the format in part,K&P teams, but, somehow, the fixture lacked "ooomph",so to speak.

The favourable wind,as quite often at the TVAC,jazzed up our sprinters and Justin Green(4th 100 10.88),Chris Hall(4th 200 22.21) and Matt Field(4th 110H 15.2manual) should be well pleased they were in form to take advantage.Adam Bellis ran his best race/time of the summer(4th 50.53) and,in the field, both Gareth Cook(Hammer 53.37) & James Heptonstall(Long Jump 6.74) claimed 2nd places, our best of the day. Aljosa Isakovic(4.36.24 1500) and our renowned M60Vet Bob McDonough(14.13.18 3k Steeplechase) both BAL-debuted gallantly in the distance events and we were indebted to them for making the effort to support the squad and fill the substantial void we seem to have in that area. Chris Dack was,sadly,out-of-sorts in the Javelin(4th) and our Medley(200,200,400,400) Relay foursome(Adam Bellis 50.1) mirrored the best efforts of our track men, taking 4th again.

Only two distaff competed, but Camilla Thrush achieved one of her best ever throws with a fine 39.03(2nd)in the Hammer and recent ESSA SG400 silver-medalist,Mary Iheke, also took 2nd,over 200(25.24).

Scores - Men:WSEH 81,B&B 73,Winchester 65,BMH 64,K&P 53,Newbury 46,Andover 27. Women:WSEH 106,B&B 83,Newbury 53,BMH 48,AFD 37,K&P 16.
