id794-Rosenheim League Final Tooting August 13th 2008 Report

Written by DB

Down to the final 4 x 200 relay yet again, but this year we won the Trophy fair and square rather than on a DQ,taking 3 places out of Belgrave to snatch back the Trophy by a single point. It was eminently fitting that Ron Taylor, the only ever-present and inveterate 'devil-for-punishment' over 1500/3000 at every match this summer, should bravely struggle round the 3k to grab a vital point! Ubiquitous TM Humphrey Waddington led from the front,as always, and these two appropriately ended up as top scorers over the season.

The team actually only won one of the 12 events - Kyle Stevens hitting 15.23 in the SP,just shy of his 2008 best - but, with all the likely teams short in places,H's selections came up trumps.

Justin Green(11.0/22.3) claimed 2x2nd slots on a windy,damp evening,with Matt Field(HJ 1.70),James Heptonstall(TJ 13.41) and the 4 x 200 quartet(Chris Hall,Justin Green,Adam Bellis,Jason Bernard)(1.30.3) mirroring that.Matt(110H 16.5) & Adam(51.6 400) added 3rds. Jamie McCullagh returned with a 51.7 NS 400 win and Richard Holt kept his eye in,as well as using it to ensure some of his athletes were behaving!

The full individual results are on this site,as usual - brief team scores saw K&P home with 67 points from Bels 66 & HHH 63.
