Alpha-Beta Meeting

Unfortunately,it was a rather depleted team that turned out on Saturday for this annual match – four seniors:Nicky Atkins, Camilla Thrush, Maddy Hardwick and Emily McIlwain - and four U15s:Layla Thompson, Mae Thompson, Nicole Kendall and Danni Searle.

After a somewhat wet Friday,we had feared the worst but it turned out to be a glorious day – just the right conditions for athletics. The Alpha Beta meeting offers stiff competition from some of the stronger clubs;however the team pulled together, competing in a number of events (some of them outside their comfort zones).

On the senior side things started a little shakily at first but,as the girls’ confidence grew,they produced some reasonable season openers with all four competitors producing performances that bode well for the summer season ahead; on the U15 side there were solid performances from club stalwarts Layla and Mae with newcomers Danni and Nicole producing promising performances.
