Written by HL

Harriet Lester highlights the season's opener.

On Saturday 25th April, the 2009 Southern Womens’ season kicked off down at Kingsmeadow with an excellent turn out of 14 athletes over a variety of age groups. I send a huge thanks to the new girls who had never competed before;your appearance was welcomed by the team hugely! If turn out continues, Kingston are sure to have a great season, staying on par with a respectable 71 points earned with most events filled!

With impressive performances in the 800m by Gaby Miles and in the Javelin by Rahannah Gillette–Vernon who topped her pb with a giant throw just short of 30metres. Well done(especially in the pole vault attempt)!! Not to mention other great successes throughout the day.

Also, a great big thank you to Egho, who kindly stepped in to run a 200 metres at the last minute, but had an accident; get well soon Egho and we hope it hasn’t put you off competing in the future!

With a huge thank you to all the athletes and officials who turned out to support Kingston and Poly;it is important this continues throughout the season in order for us to move up ranks.

I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 30th May in Bromley!!

Harriet Lester
