Once the wind had died down towards midday at the hospitable Ewell Court arena,a balmy atmosphere developed and was condusive. Maurice Joyce, the Meeting Manager, and home club E&E's Facilities Co-Ordinator Liz Sissons and County Secretary Don Turner would have been pleased that the County's decision to switch to this venue from Kingsmeadow was fully justified. Several K&P athletes took advantage, and there were medals to be had.

On the Ladies' side,Camilla Thrush, fresh into the W40 group, set CBPs in winning the SP,DT & HT(37m.26).At W45,Susanne Dietrich won her first County medals, taking the 200 gold and a silver at 3000 Walk, whilst Nicky Atkins ran an SB over 5k(22.18.8) to take silver.Joan Trimble was a clear double golden girl at W50,taking the 100/200(14.8/30.3).

In the Male events,a rampaging Draco Mkpa took the M35 200 in a CBP/SB(23.3),whilst Andy Robinson was a confident M40 1500 winner in 4.20.0. Mike May claimed a bronze over 200 in the M45 200,and Robert Lowe was the most bemedaled of all with 4 golds in the group, plus 2 silvers, one of them behind Geoff van Klaveren(36m19 to 26m85 at Javelin). Finally,in the M65s,Senior Coach Chuck Isetts proved again that what he imbues into his sprinters rubs off on his own form,by taking 2 silvers in nifty SBs of 14.1/29.2,whilst David Barrington was chuffed with a 57.5 300 Hurdles, and much relieved his solo run did not come to grief!
