Here's the Latest News from Sue & Lyn,your new TMs.
The first match of the series was in Guildford on 23rd May, and the sun shone on us!! However, we finished fourth (and only 5 of the 7 clubs were competing!), largely due to a disappointing turnout. Outstanding performances on the day came from U13 newcomers Gaby Orlich who came first in Discus and Shot, and Vanessa Saunders who won the B String Long Jump. And congratulations to Emily McIlwain who came first in the U17 High Jump. Well done, girls!
For match 2, you certainly answered the plea for help, and we were thrilled with the turnout at Sutton Arena, despite the wet and the cold!!! (So much for suncream and sun hats……!). Well done, girls and parents alike - thank you for your support!!! Thanks also to Maurice Joyce (minibus and field judge), David Dyer (timekeeper) and Camilla Thrush (field judge) , and Mary Dimbleby for occupying the U11s so well.
The U11s did a grand job with some super running, and they came 2nd in the relay!! Stephanie Mitchell did well in the Long Jump coming 4th out of 20 jumpers. Keep up the good work girls - and you will be scoring lots of points for us very soon!!!
For the U13s, Naomi Kelly came 1st in Shot, Lauren Edwards won the B String High Jump, and Saskia Fitzpatrick came a very respectable 2nd in Long Jump.
The U15 girls didn’t win any of the events, but came 2nd in 7 events so clocked up some great points. We also managed to field two relay teams for the first time that I can remember!! So many thanks again for the great turnout.
A special mention to Francesca Currie and Jessica Tomlinson who alone represented the U17 girls, with Francesca gaining us maximum points for triple jump and 1500m as the only entrant!!
Because of the fantastic turnout on the day, we managed to secure joint 2nd place with Bracknell (201 points)! This means we are now fourth in the league overall:
Guildford & Godalming
Reigate Priory
Bracknell
Kingston
Croydon Sutton
PLEASE make sure you put the following dates in your diary:

We don’t need to win every event, but we do need to fill every event to stand a chance of creeping up the league. Let’s show them what we can do!!
