1st - Woodford - The peripatetic Jason Bernard travelled again,to Woodford,but his 53.15 400 had an end-of-season look about it!
(29th August) - President Pat Logan,holidaying in the Emerald Isle,won the M45 Northern Ireland Champs 100/200 at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast in a nippy double (11.95/24.87),the fastest overall times of the day.
(31st August) - Bilen Ahmet warmed up for the Eastern Decathlon Champs by competing in 10 events at the Peterborough City Games. Sadly,he was hampered by a niggling injury and he managed to surpass his season's best only in the Triple Jump(11m37).His other marks were 13.10/20.73/68.62 on the track,8.85/26.54/18.77/32.68(throws) and 1.65/3.00/11.37(jumps),missing only the LJ!
2nd - Battersea - Nicky Atkins(W45) was 6th in R1 at the VAC 10000 Champs in 49m11.1.
6th - Woking - U15 Matt Elmore was our only entry at the home club's YA meet,running 58.72 over 400 and reaching the Final,plus a 5m.08 LJ.
12th - Roundshaw Downs - A very welcome appearance in this TimeTrial event by K&P Life Member and former Surrey AC International Long Jumper,Maureen Chitty,the holder of the Club Record at 6m39 in Athens in June 1972. Maureen,now a WV60, completed the Trial in 42nd place in 30m.17.
12th - At the Richmond Park TT,our improving U17 George Corcoran pushed on to another Fastest outing,clocking 18.25 for 4th place.
13th - Some dozen went to see the season out at the well-supported SMR Open at Twickers - amongst other good marks,BPs for 2009 came from Rob Smith(40.93 HT),Bilen Ahmet(11.42 TJ)& Rob Lowe(HT 22.14);there was a fine PB for Rohit Naha in the U17 PV(3m.10) but pride of place went to fellow vaulter,Claudia Noakes,who equalled her Club Record at 2m90. 12th - Horsham - We had 3 contestants in the Surrey County Under 15 Boys Pentathlon Champs;all three were very competitive,posting some useful marks - Matthew Elmore just missed the medals in 4th place with 2041pts(inc 13.25 80H and 5m32w LJ),Kiran Richards took 7th(1751pts-inc 9m85 SP) and Alex Mackintosh was 10th of the 16 competitors with 1518pts(inc a SB at HJ - 1m52). 13th - 6 Stage River Relay(Virginia Water to Ham) - The Club team finished 9th in this annual Stragglers-organised race(3h.29.12),the squad comprising Ron Taylor,Matt Hyett,Bob McDonough,Jon Cook,Nicky Atkins & James Robertson. 16th - Parly Hill - M45 Mike May ended his prolific racing summer with a 66.9 400 in this Highgate Open Meet,and Jason Bernard(11.5) & Ron Taylor(2.07.1) were also in action.
19th/20th - Erith - Kent Multis Champs - Bilen Ahmet,though not enamoured of his two days-worth,did improve his season's bests in the HJ to 1m71,in the 110H to 19.2,in the 1500 to 5.09.0 and his final score in 5th to 4497 pts.He intends to do better this weekend in the Eastern Champs.
26th - Roundshaw Downs TT - Maureen Chitty was close to her fastest,finshing in 41st in 30.26.
26th - Bromley - Maurice Joyce reports that the latest Allan Williams'-inspired Jim Day Memorial Pole Vault Festival was a congenial,warm & fitting tribute to The Man,and K&P's Claudia Noakes & Gordon Lester took full advantage. Claudia added 2cms to her PB and Club Open & U15 Record with 2m92,whilst Gordon cleared a season's best of 3m72 - hopefully,both will enter their coming winter phase with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.
26th/27th - Bedford - Bilen Ahmet finished 6th overall in the Eastern Counties/Open Decathlon with 4203pts. His 3m40 PV and 30m41 DT were his better marks.
27th - Ewell - Camilla Thrush threw two 2009 bests at the SECTA Meet - 10.66 SP & 12.64 WT
