Avalon - Poem by Conrad Martin
You ask me
Why do I make my home on the Tor
And I smile, and I am silent,
And even my soul remains quiet:
It lives in the other world
Which no one owns
The Holy Thorn trees blossom
Twice a year
The waters flow
The ravens rule the sky
……we are home.
Avalonian Isle - Poem by Conrad Martin
There is always pleasure or fear
When the sea gets rough
To be washed up on an island
Not marked on the map
I have searched for this island
In all my storms
Or sometimes in a lifeboat
Waiting for the next mist to rise
Whatever map I used
Was no use without a compass
A starry night or a sun
To guide me by
And when a butterfly
Settles on my shoulder
During the storm I’m in
Even if only for a restful while
I’m home
