This weekend saw round 2 of the NAL. On one of the windy days ever seen for summer athletics in the UK (where winds of up to 9.9 m/s second were recorded at one venue) the team did really well to come home 5th in the match.
This wasn't quite as strong as the previous match, but a series of unfortunate injuries / absences meant it was always going to be tough to do quite as well.
However, there were some great races and several debuts at this level, including for Ella Henderson, Hannah Johnson, Angus Strachan, Amber Roberts, Sean Brown and Mark Roberts (although he competed many times in the old British League).
Rebecca, Joely and Ben all got A string wins and there was a particularly exciting climax to the meeting with the mens 4x400m coming 2nd by less than a quarter of a second to a strong Portsmouth squad.
The previous week had seen the senior British Champs, the biggest domestic meeting of the year. Our only representative was U20 Kira Holt who ran well to finish 13th in the country at the 100m hurdles with yet another sub 14 second run in what has been a big breakthrough season for her.
