Meet the Team Manager, Gareth!
In the first of a series of posts, we are delighted to introduce Gareth Perrin.
How did you get involved with the Club?
I got involved with K&P through my 2 kids who started off with Kestrels many years ago and now compete for the club in U20 and U17 age categories.
Over time I have progressed from helping out with field events to now holding multiple roles within the club. (Chairman, General Secretary, Field Official, Meeting Manager and Team Manager).
I manage the Youth Development Lower team for the U13 and U15 age groups.
There are 4 League meetings a year covering all of the Track and Field events and the first one this year is on 20th April.
How would you sum up your team?
As with all of the K&P teams the team spirit is excellent with the kids really enjoying each others company and supporting each other.
Selection is based on performance with 2 spots available for each event per gender (plus a limited number of non scoring places in 2 of the events).
The team had a very strong 2023 season narrowly missing out on promotion.
What are your 2024 Goals?
The league structure has changed this year and become more geographically based so we will have less far to travel to away fixtures.
The goal for the season is to try and get as close to full teams as possible and to support the athletes achieve their goals and enjoy participating.
How do you communicate with the Athletes?
This year we are going to collect availability and event preferences using a google sheet.
This is being done with a single Google sheet that currently covers the Lily B, Ebbisham, YDL Lower and YDL Upper.
The idea is to give parents a single place to update availability and preferences across multiple teams.
Communication will be managed via email.
What is your favourite Nando's Sauce?
I do love a Nando’s and my go to sauce is Medium with a bit of hot on the side!
If anyone wants more information on competing for the club send us a message and we will get back to you with further details.
