We are saddened to hear of the passing of John Barnard, former Men’s 3000 steeplechase club record holder. John sadly passed away on April 13 aged 74.

He was a regular member of Polytechnic Harriers British League team for ten years in the 1970s/1980s and a high A string scorer and always fully committed to the BAL team.

His PB 9.06.43 in 1980 remains the
2nd best ever club performance and is also high on the Middlesex Alltime lists.

John also ran a fine 2h.26.12 Marathon in the 1985 London fixture.
